Battle Bow Bible Teaching Series by Kraig Josiah Rice |
|
This Bible Study is in a little different kind of format than my previous Bible Studies as the truths listed below are inserted into tables. Jesus Christ taught the truths listed below to His own personal disciples. That is why it is important for you and I to study these truths.
Here you will find the prophetic truth about Jesus Christ as seen in the Holy Scriptures (the Bible). This study is only a portion of the study on Christology, which is the study about Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ wanted His followers (including you and me) to be aware of the Old Testament scriptures that pertained to Him. Why? To help strengthen our faith so that we will have eternal life.
Here's the true story of why I say what I say.
13 When they realized who he was, they rushed back to tell the others, but no one believed them"
The Walk to Emmaus:
14As they walked along they were talking about everything that had happened.
15Suddenly, Jesus himself came along and joined them and began walking beside them.
16But they didn't know who he was, because God kept them from recognizing him.
17"You seem to be in a deep discussion about something," he said. "What are you so concerned about?"
They stopped short, sadness written across their faces.
18Then one of them, Cleopas, replied, "You must be the only person in Jerusalem who hasn't heard about all the things that have happened there the last few days."
19"What things?" Jesus asked. "The things that happened to Jesus, the man from Nazareth," they said. "He was a prophet who did wonderful miracles. He was a mighty teacher, highly regarded by both God and all the people.
20But our leading priests and other religious leaders arrested him and handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him.
21We had thought he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel. That all happened three days ago.
22Then some women from our group of his followers were at his tomb early this morning, and they came back with an amazing report.
23They said his body was missing, and they had seen angels who told them Jesus is alive!
24Some of our men ran out to see, and sure enough, Jesus' body was gone, just as the women had said."
25Then Jesus said to them,
26Wasn't it clearly predicted by the prophets that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his time of glory?
27Then Jesus quoted passages from the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining what all the Scriptures said about himself."
Note: I do not have all of the prophecies here, but only a few select ones.
The Prophetic Truths About Jesus Christ are concealed in the Old Testament but revealed in the New Testament

31 "But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life."
(John 20:31) (New Living Translation or NLT).
12 "Afterward he appeared to two who were walking from Jerusalem into the country, but they didn't recognize him at first because he had changed his appearance.
(Mark 16:12 & 13)
13"That same day two of Jesus' followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles out of Jerusalem.
"You are such foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures.
(Luke 24:13-27)

| The Prophetic Truths About The Birth of Jesus Christ: |
|
Jesus Christ is eternally existent |
| Old Testament |
Before the mountains were created, before you made the earth and the world, you are God, without beginning or end
(Psalms 90:2).
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village in Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant past
|
| New Testament |
In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God
(John 1:1). |
|
Jesus Christ would be a descendant of Abraham |
| Old Testament |
I will bless those who bless you (Abraham) and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you
(Genesis 12:3). |
| New Testament |
This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of King David and of Abraham
(Matthew 1:1). |
|
Jesus Christ would be a descendant of Isaac |
| Old Testament |
But God replied, Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm my everlasting covenant with him and his descendants
(Genesis 17:19). |
| New Testament |
Judah was the son of Jacob. Jacob was the son of Isaac. Isaac was the son of Abraham. Abraham was the son of Terah. Terah was the son of Nahor
(Luke 3:34). |
|
Jesus Christ would be a descendant of Jacob |
| Old Testament |
I see him, but not in the present time. I perceive him, but far in the distant future. A star will rise from Jacob; a scepter will emerge from Israel. It will crush the foreheads of Moab's people, cracking the skulls of the people of Sheth
(Numbers 24:17). |
| New Testament |
Abraham was the father of Isaac. Isaac was the father of Jacob. Jacob was the father of Judah and his brothers
(Matthew 1:2). |
|
Jesus Christ would be a descendant of Jesse |
| Old Testament |
In that day the heir to David's throne [the root of Jesse] will be a banner of salvation to all the world. The nations will rally to him, for the land where he lives will be a glorious place
(Isaiah 11:10). |
| New Testament |
And the prophet Isaiah said, The heir to David's throne [in Greek The root of Jesse] will come, and he will rule over the Gentiles. They will place their hopes on him
(Romans 15:12). |
|
Jesus Christ would be a descendant of King David |
| Old Testament |
For the time is coming, says the LORD, when I will place a righteous Branch on King David's throne. He will be a King who rules with wisdom. He will do what is just and right throughout the land. And this is his name: `The LORD Is Our Righteousness.' In that day Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety
(Jeremiah 23:5-6). |
| New Testament |
This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of King David and of Abraham
(Matthew 1:1). |
|
Jesus Christ would be born in Bethlehem |
| Old Testament |
2But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village in Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant past
(Micah 5:2). |
| New Testament |
Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. O Bethlehem of Judah, you are not just a lowly village in Judah, for a ruler will come from you who will be the shepherd for my people Israel
(Matthew 2:1 and verse 6).
And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David's ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, his fiancé, who was obviously pregnant by this time. She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the village inn
|
|
Jesus Christ would be virgin born |
| Old Testament |
All right then, the Lord himself will choose the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel- God is with us
(Isaiah 7:14).
How long will you wander, my wayward daughter? For the LORD will cause something new and different to happen- Israel will embrace her God
|
| New Testament |
Now this is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her fiance, being a just man, decided to break the engagement quietly, so as not to disgrace her publicly. As he considered this, he fell asleep, and an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David," the angel said, do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary. For the child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. All of this happened to fulfill the Lord's message through his prophet: Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and he will be called Immanuel (meaning, God is with us)
(Matthew 1:18-23).
In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David
|
|
Jesus Christ would come from the tribe of Judah |
| Old Testament |
The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom it belongs, the one whom all nations will obey
(Genesis 49:10). |
| New Testament |
What I mean is, our Lord came from the tribe of Judah, and Moses never mentioned Judah in connection with the priesthood
(Hebrews 7:14).
Nahshon was the son of Amminadab. Amminadab was the son of Admin. Admin was the son of Arni. Arni was the son of Hezron. Hezron was the son of Perez. Perez was the son of Judah
|
|
The time would be right for Jesus Christ's birth |
| Old Testament |
The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom it belongs, the one whom all nations will obey
(Genesis 49:10).
Now listen and understand! Seven sets of seven plus sixty-two sets of seven will pass from the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One comes. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, despite the perilous times
|
| New Testament |
At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) All returned to their own towns to register for this census. And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David's ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, his fiancé, who was obviously pregnant by this time. And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the village inn
(Luke 2:1-7).
But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law
|
|
Jesus Christ would be the firstborn son |
| Old Testament |
I will make him my firstborn son, the mightiest king on earth
(Psalms 89:27). |
| New Testament |
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the head of the church, which is his body. He is the first of all who will rise from the dead, so he is first in everything
(Colossians 1:15 and verse 18). |
|
Jesus Christ would be visited by wise men |
| Old Testament |
The western kings of Tarshish and the islands will bring him tribute. The eastern kings of Sheba and Seba will bring him gifts. All kings will bow before him, and all nations will serve him
(Psalms 72:10-11). |
| New Testament |
Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his star as it arose, and we have come to worship him. They entered the house where the child and his mother, Mary, were, and they fell down before him and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh
(Matthew 2:1-2 and verse 11). |
|
Jesus Christ would be worshipped by shepherds |
| Old Testament |
Desert nomads (shepherds) will bow before him; his enemies will fall before him in the dust
(Psalms 72:9). |
| New Testament |
That night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep. 9Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord's glory surrounded them. They were terribly frightened, but the angel reassured them. Don't be afraid! he said. I bring you good news of great joy for everyone! The Savior- yes, the Messiah, the Lord- has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David! And this is how you will recognize him: You will find a baby lying in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth! Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others- the armies of heaven- praising God: Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors. When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, Come on, let's go to Bethlehem! Let's see this wonderful thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about
(Luke 2:8-15). |
|
Jesus Christ would be taken to Egypt as a baby |
| Old Testament |
When Israel was a child, I loved him as a son, and I called my son out of Egypt
(Hosea 11:1). |
| New Testament |
That night Joseph left for Egypt with the child and Mary, his mother, and they stayed there until Herod's death. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: I called my Son out of Egypt
(Matthew 2:14-15). |
|
There would be a holocaust of the children of Bethlehem in trying to kill baby Jesus |
| Old Testament |
This is what the LORD says: A cry of anguish is heard in Ramah- mourning and weeping unrestrained. Rachel weeps for her children, refusing to be comforted- for her children are dead
(Jeremiah 31:15). |
| New Testament |
Herod was furious when he learned that the wise men had outwitted him. He sent soldiers to kill all the boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, because the wise men had told him the star first appeared to them about two years earlier. Herod's brutal action fulfilled the prophecy of Jeremiah: A cry of anguish is heard in Ramah- weeping and mourning unrestrained. Rachel weeps for her children, refusing to be comforted- for they are dead
(Matthew 2:16-18). |
Our concern should not be with whether or not God is on our side |
| The Prophetic Truths About The First Ministry of Jesus Christ- His First Coming: |
|
Elijah would come before Jesus Christ |
| Old Testament |
Look, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the LORD arrives. His preaching will turn the hearts of parents to their children, and the hearts of children to their parents. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse
(Malachi 4:5-6). |
| New Testament |
In those days John the Baptist began preaching in the Judean wilderness. His message was, Turn from your sins and turn to God, because the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Isaiah had spoken of John when he said, He is a voice shouting in the wilderness: Prepare a pathway for the Lord's coming! Make a straight road for him
(Matthew 3:1-3).
Jesus replied, Elijah is indeed coming first to set everything in order. But I tell you, he has already come, but he wasn't recognized, and he was badly mistreated. And soon the Son of Man will also suffer at their hands. Then the disciples realized he had been speaking of John the Baptist

Jesus Christ, the Messiah, would be God the Son |
| Old Testament |
The king proclaims the LORD's decree: The LORD said to me, You are my son. Today I have become your Father
(Psalms 2:7).
Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in his fists? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is his name- and his son's name? Tell me if you know!
|
| New Testament |
If you had known who I am, then you would have known who my Father is. From now on you know him and have seen him!
(John 14:7).
And a voice from heaven said, This is my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with him
|
|
The ministry of Jesus Christ would begin in Galilee |
| Old Testament |
Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will soon be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory. The people who walk in darkness will see a great light- a light that will shine on all who live in the land where death casts its shadow
(Isaiah 9:1-2). |
| New Testament |
When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee. But instead of going to Nazareth, he went to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. This fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy: In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali, beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River- in Galilee where so many Gentiles live- the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined. From then on, Jesus began to preach, Turn from your sins and turn to God, because the Kingdom of Heaven is near
(Matthew 4:12-17). |
|
Jesus Christ would minister to the brokenhearted |
| Old Testament |
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. 2He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD's favor has come, and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. For the LORD has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory
(Isaiah 61:1-3). |
| New Testament |
When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. The scroll containing the messages of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him, and he unrolled the scroll to the place where it says: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors, and that the time of the Lord's favor has come. He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. Everyone in the synagogue stared at him intently. Then he said, This Scripture has come true today before your very eyes!
(Luke 4:16-21). |
|
Jesus Christ would heal the sick |
| Old Testament |
Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God for his own sins!
(Isaiah 53:4).
And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unstop the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will shout and sing! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the desert
|
| New Testament |
That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. All the spirits fled when he commanded them to leave; and he healed all the sick. This fulfilled the word of the Lord through Isaiah, who said, He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases
(Matthew 8:16-17).
Then he told John's disciples, Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard- the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor
|
|
Jesus Christ would teach in parables |
| Old Testament |
O my people, listen to my teaching. Open your ears to what I am saying, for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past- stories we have heard and know, stories our ancestors handed down to us. We will not hide these truths from our children but will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD. We will tell of his power and the mighty miracles he did
(Psalms 78:1-4). |
| New Testament |
Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables. This fulfilled the prophecy that said, I will speak to you in parables. I will explain mysteries hidden since the creation of the world
(Matthew 13:34-35). |
|
Jesus Christ would preach righteousness |
| Old Testament |
I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O LORD, well know
(Psalms 40:9). |
| New Testament |
From then on, Jesus began to preach, Turn from your sins and turn to God, because the Kingdom of Heaven is near
(Matthew 4:17). |
|
Jesus Christ would be meek |
| Old Testament |
He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth
(Isaiah 53:7).
2He will be gentle- he will not shout or raise his voice in public. He will not crush those who are weak or quench the smallest hope. He will bring full justice to all who have been wronged
|
| New Testament |
Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, and I am very pleased with him. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout; he will not raise his voice in public. He will not crush those who are weak, or quench the smallest hope, until he brings full justice with his final victory
(Matthew 12:18-20).
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls
|
|
Jesus Christ would do the will of God the Father |
| Old Testament |
You take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand- you don't require burnt offerings or sin offerings. Then I said, Look, I have come. And this has been written about me in your scroll: I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your law is written on my heart
(Psalms 40:6-8). |
| New Testament |
Then Jesus explained: My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work
(John 4:34).
That is why Christ, when he came into the world, said, You did not want animal sacrifices and grain offerings. But you have given me a body so that I may obey you. No, you were not pleased with animals burned on the altar or with other offerings for sin. Then I said, Look, I have come to do your will, O God- just as it is written about me in the Scriptures. Christ said, You did not want animal sacrifices or grain offerings or animals burned on the altar or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them (though they are required by the law of Moses). Then he added, "Look, I have come to do your will. He cancels the first covenant in order to establish the second. And what God wants is for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time
|
|
Jesus Christ would give rest to His children |
| Old Testament |
As with cattle going down into a peaceful valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. You led your people, LORD, and gained a magnificent reputation
(Isaiah 63:14).
So now the LORD says, Stop right where you are! Look for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls
|
| New Testament |
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light
(Matthew 11:29-30). |
|
Eternal life would come through faith in Jesus Christ |
| Old Testament |
Submit to God's royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the midst of your pursuits- for his anger can flare up in an instant. But what joy for all who find protection in him!
(Psalms 2:12). |
| New Testament |
But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life
(John 20:31). |
|
Jesus Christ would be zealous for the Lord's House |
| Old Testament |
I will bring them also to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations
(Isaiah 56:7).
Do you think this Temple, which honors my name, is a den of thieves? I see all the evil going on there, says the LORD
|
| New Testament |
He said, The Scriptures declare, My Temple will be called a place of prayer, but you have turned it into a den of thieves!
(Matthew 21:13).
Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures: Passion for God's house burns within me
|
|
Jesus Christ would speak the Wisdom of God |
| Old Testament |
for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past-
(Psalms 78:2). |
| New Testament |
...for he taught as one who had real authority- quite unlike the teachers of religious law
(Matthew 7:29). |
|
Jesus Christ would minister to gentiles |
| Old Testament |
Look at my servant, whom I strengthen. He is my chosen one, and I am pleased with him. I have put my Spirit upon him. He will reveal justice to the (gentile) nations
(Isaiah 42:1).
Listen to me, all of you in far-off lands! The LORD called me before my birth; from within the womb he called me by name
|
| New Testament |
Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, and I am very pleased with him. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout; he will not raise his voice in public. He will not crush those who are weak, or quench the smallest hope, until he brings full justice with his final victory. And his name will be the hope of all the world

He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!
|

| New Testament |
And no doubt you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the Devil, for God was with him
(Acts 10:38). |
|
Jesus Christ would have a Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem |
| Old Testament |
Rejoice greatly, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey- even on a donkey's colt
(Zechariah 9:9). |
| New Testament |
The two disciples did as Jesus said. They brought the animals to him and threw their garments over the colt, and he sat on it. Most of the crowd spread their coats on the road ahead of Jesus, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9He was in the center of the procession, and the crowds all around him were shouting, Praise God for the Son of David! Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Praise God in highest heaven! The entire city of Jerusalem was stirred as he entered. Who is this? they asked. And the crowds replied, It's Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee
(Matthew 21:6-11). |

During His Futuristic Second Coming: |

Jesus Christ will be the governor of the nations |

The whole earth will acknowledge the LORD and return to him. People from every nation will bow down before him. For the LORD is king! He rules all the nations
(Psalms 22:27-28). |
| New Testament |
For it was in Him that all things were created, in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, whether thrones, dominions, rulers, or authorities; All things were created and exist through Him (by His service, intervention) and in and for Him (Amplified Bible)
(Colossians 1:16). |
|
Jesus Christ will honored by mighty world rulers |

All nations will come to your light. Mighty kings will come to see your radiance
(Isaiah 60:3). |
| New Testament |
...the wise men went their way. Once again the star appeared to them, guiding them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house where the child and his mother, Mary, were, and they fell down before him and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh
(Matthew 2:9-11). |
|
Jesus Christ will judge the world in righteousness |
| Old Testament |
But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne. He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness. The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, have never abandoned anyone who searches for you
(Psalms 9:7-10). |
| New Testament |
For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead
(Acts 17:31). |
|
Jesus Christ will rule the nations with a rod of iron |
| Old Testament |
Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your possession. You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots
(Psalms 2:8 and 9). |
| New Testament |
From his mouth came a sharp sword, and with it he struck down the nations. He ruled them with an iron rod, and he trod the winepress of the fierce wrath of almighty God
(Revelation 19:15). |
|
All nations shall be blessed by Jesus Christ |
| Old Testament |
May the king's name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun shines. May all nations be blessed through him and bring him praise
(Psalms 72:17). |
| New Testament |
What's more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would accept the Gentiles, too, on the basis of their faith. God promised this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, All nations will be blessed through you
(Galatians 3:8). |
Life is not a problem to be solved |
|
Jesus Christ is Emmanuel (God With Us) |
| Old Testament |
All right then, the Lord himself will choose the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel- God is with us
(Isaiah 7:14). |
| New Testament |
As he considered this, he fell asleep, and an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, the angel said, do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary.

(Revelation 1:8 and verse 17). |
|
Jesus Christ is the Great "I AM" |
| Old Testament |
But Moses protested, If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, The God of your ancestors has sent me to you, they won't believe me. They will ask, Which god are you talking about? What is his name? Then what should I tell them? God replied, I AM THE ONE WHO ALWAYS IS. Just tell them, I AM has sent me to you. God also said, Tell them, The LORD, the God of your ancestors- the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob- has sent me to you. This will be my name forever; it has always been my name, and it will be used throughout all generations
(Exodus 3:13-15). |

Jesus Christ is the Pre-existent One |
| Old Testament |
The LORD Almighty will beat them with his whip, as he did when Gideon triumphed over the Midianites at the rock of Oreb, or when the LORD's staff was raised to drown the Egyptian army in the sea. In that day the LORD will end the bondage of his people. He will break the yoke of slavery and lift it from their shoulders
(Isaiah 10:26-27). |
| New Testament |
And, Lord, in the beginning you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. Even they will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing.
