INTRODUCTION

I believe that Jesus Christ wants His followers to be informed and prepared on how to physically survive an atomic bomb attack. Let's briefly examine a nuclear explosion. There is a lot of talk these days about how to survive such an attack. There are two main different types of nuclear weapons that one needs to know about-
the atomic bomb type and
the RDD dirty bomb type.
Let's take a look at each one.

The Atomic Bomb Attack (and what to do)

What is this bomb?

In basic terms a conventional bomb, artillery shell, mortar shell, or hand grenade uses explosive material encased in steel. When the explosive goes off it breaks up it's steel container and propels those steel pieces through the air in the hopes of hitting soft human flesh to cause injury and death. The explosion itself puts out a shock wave called a concussion wave that is dangerous and can be fatal. A person's eyes and ear drums can be damaged just by the concussion. A person's distance away from a conventional weapon when it explodes is crucial to their survival. So keeping all of this in mind, let's take a look at a basic nuclear bomb.

Instead of using an explosive powder inside of a steel casing like a conventional bomb, this bomb consists of one of earth's elements that can be manipulated to blow apart. This element is uranium. It's a radioactive material. It can be blown apart by fission (of uranium) in the atomic bomb or by fusion (of hydrogen) in the hydrogen bomb.

A small atomic bomb is the equivalent of 20,000 tons of TNT. TNT is the explosive powder manufacturers use to make dynamite from. An English ton is 2,000 pounds of weight. 20,000 times 2,000 gives us a total of 40,000,000 pounds. So, in one bomb there is the equivalent of 40,000,000 pounds of weight of dynamite powder ready to explode all at once. The weapon is only about the size of a basketball but it makes a big mess after it explodes. It is properly titled a weapon of mass destruction (WMD).

What does this bomb do?

Satan wants to cast his web of
world domination
by the use of nuclear warfare
The first thing that happens is that it explodes. There is a tremendous blast. The shock wave blast area is well over twenty three miles (46 kilometers) from where the bomb explodes in every direction. There is a temporary flash of light equal to about 100 or so of our earth's suns. Don't look at this light from a distance with your naked eyes or with just sun glasses on lest you go blind. There is an immediate fire ball going out in all directions directly around the bomb for approximately one half mile (1 kilometer). This is called "ground zero" by scientists. If you are in this half mile area your body will die from the intense heat.

This shock wave travels at the speed of sound or at 1050 feet per second so it is very fast. Past a half mile the shock wave keeps going- like a tital wave of hot air pressure. There will be heavy structural damage up to 7 miles out from where the bomb was detonated. There will be moderate damage from 7-11 miles out. There will be light damage 11-23 miles out.

The purpose of the heat and air blast is to inflict civilian casualties and destroy enemy buildings. At this stage it is not too dissimilar to the use of napalm, phosphorus, or other incindiary (conventional) bombs dropped on civilian cities during World War Two.

If you are out in the open, yet close enough to actually see the explosion itself, but farther than 1/2 mile away, your first thought of survival action should be to duck and cover. Get in your fox hole if you are a soldier on the front lines. If you are a civilian you should find some place low and take cover. Let the air blast pass over the top of you. Let flying debris pass over the top of you. The shock wave is very powerful and can be very dangerous. Once this wave passes the next thing to happen are fires springing up in the wake of the wreckage. Burnable objects will have been set on fire after the heat wave ignited them.

The next thing that happens is a mushroom cloud of dust, water vapor, and smoke going high into the sky. When a nuclear weapon explodes near the ground, great quantities of pulverized earth and other debris are sucked up into the nuclear cloud. Small particles of radiation will attach itself to these dust, vapor, and smoke particles. One rule of thumb is that if there is not enough fallout that you can see, then there is not enough of it that it will kill you. Fallout is usually small grain dust or grit, often having a light color, but not always. It depends upon its source. The best place to spot it is on a smooth surface, like the hood of a car. When these radioactive particles come back to earth it is called nuclear fallout. This radiation is designed to kill those local people who are not killed from the heat, shock wave, or from falling buildings, flying debris, or fire in the rubble.

How Do I Avoid Any Radiation?

Most of the radiation is given off locally and quickly- therefore, the first few hours after an attack is the most dangerous period. The particles themselves look like grains of salt or sand, but stay away from these as the rays are invisible. Don't let your children play outside in this stuff. Areas close to the nuclear explosion might receive fallout within 15 to 30 minutes. Generally, the fallout pattern after 36 hours from the detonation of a single 15-megaton thermonuclear bomb is 20 miles (40 kilometers) upwind and over 320 miles (640 kilometers) downwind from where the bomb exploded.

The wind carries the radioactive materials through the air. This means that very large areas will become contaminated and you will need to plan for this if you are at least 320 miles downwind from the explosion. You will need to find shelter and stay away from the bombed area for a long period of time depending on the extent and severity of the contamination. If you live within 320 miles down wind of the explosion then you may need to travel a minimum of 50 miles (100 kilometers) in a horizontal (side ways) direction (from the major direction of the wind) in order to escape from this zone. If you stay in this area or zone then you will need to take appropriate shelter from the radiation for a 14 day period of time. If you stay and you do not take appropriate shelter then you may get radiation sickness. I deal with radiation sickness in greater detail farther down this page.

If you live or work outside of this area or zone you can thank God that you were spared and try to do what you can to help others who were not so fortunate. Overhead utility lines may have been destroyed near the target area so you may lose electricity for a short time until the power companies can re-route electricity on their electric grid. Any country that uses underground electric lines will be in a better situation to keep electricity flowing to it's populace than any country that doesn't.

If other countries nuke each other and your country is not nuked at the same time then your country of residence will keep it's public informed as to world wide fallout and radiation levels and what it means to you and the rest of the populace in your country. Just be assured that you are in no imminent danger. However, if your place of residence and work is downwind 320 miles from a targeted city in another country then you should get into an underground shelter as soon as possible and stay there until it is safe. After two weeks most fallout will have finished and it will then be relatively safe for you to come out of your shelter.

The general rule of thumb is that one bomb will destroy one city. The side effects of fear, mass panic, transportation grid lock, as well as political, economic, and military chaos is expected from folks who live in the bombed areas.

The Dirty Bomb Attack (and what to do)

What is this bomb?

A dirty bomb is a mixture of conventional explosives, such as black powder, dynamite or TNT, with something that is toxic to humans. When the dynamite or other explosives are set off, the blast spreads the toxic substance into the air or atmosphere of the surrounding area.

This is one way to spread nerve gas, anthrax powder, or other toxins to crowded together human beings.

What is a RDD?

RDD stands for Radiological Dispersion Device. This is a dirty bomb that uses the explosion of dynamite or other explosives to scatter radioactive dust, smoke, and other material into that local atmosphere. This bomb is small enough to be carried in a suitcase but is NOT considered to be a WMD (a weapon of mass destruction). A dirty bomb works completely differently and cannot create an atomic blast. Why? Because an atomic bomb, like those bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, involves the splitting of atoms and a huge release of energy that produces the atomic mushroom cloud. An RDD doesn't.

How dangerous is a RDD?

This bomb releases radioactive material into the air or atmosphere. In this respect it can be similar to what an atomic bomb explosion does, except on a much smaller scale. The goal is to destroy large numbers of people by the use of radiation sickness. The goal is also to cause wide spread panic and fear among a country's population as well as to adversely affect a country's economy and political structure.

As in the case with an atomic bomb most of the radiation is given off locally and quickly- therefore, the first few hours after an attack are the most dangerous period. The particles themselves look like grains of salt or sand, but stay away from these as the rays are invisible. Don't let your children play outside in this stuff. Areas close to this explosion might receive fallout quickly.

The wind will disperse the radioactive materials through the air currents. But since the amount of radiation is less this means that only local areas will become contaminated and you will need to plan for this if you are in the vicinity of the explosion. You will need to find shelter and stay away from the bombed area until it is deemed safe to go there. If you were near the explosion or down wind of the explosion then you may need to travel a few miles in a horizontal (side ways) direction (from the major direction of the wind) in order to escape from this area. If you stay in this area or zone then you will need to take appropriate shelter from the radiation for a 14 day period of time. If you stay and you do not take appropriate shelter then you may get radiation sickness. A smaller amount of radiation will have been used than in an atomic bomb so the fallout will be less and the fallout distance will be shorter than 320 miles in most instances. Your government authorities will give emergency evacuation orders to those who live down wind of the explosion once the amount of radiation from the explosion is determined.

A Few Frequently Asked Questions?

What is radiation sickness?
You can't see, feel, or touch radiation. However, uncontrolled, harmful radiation can cause damage in living tissue (your body). Ionizing radiation occurs in two forms: particles and rays. Particles consist of alpha particles, beta particles, and neutrons. Rays consist of x-rays and gamma rays which are part of electromagnetic radiation.

Amounts of harmful radiation in your body are measured in roentgens. Your body is like a sponge and can soak up radiation and thus become slightly radioactive by doing so. The general rule of thumb is that if your body gets a high dose of 400R to 1000R then your body will die between 2 weeks to 2 months of radiation poisoning. Radiation poisoning and radiation sickness are the same for all intent and purpose. The more intense the radiation in your body the shorter the time before death. Lower doses may cause cancer or other long-term health problems.

Radiation sickness is caused by physical and chemical changes in the cells of the body due to the rays given off by fallout particles. Large doses of radiation will cause death, while small or medium doses will induce sickness. Those in good health will recover from the sickness, but the very young and old or those injured or in ill health may not. The same dose received over a short period of time is more damaging than if it is received over a longer period. Radiation sickness is not contagious or infectious. People exposed to fallout radiation do not become radioactive and thereby dangerous to other people.

Staying in a fallout shelter for two weeks will help protect you and those you love from radiation sickness if you are at a distance from the explosion yet in the danger zone down wind after the explosion. After two weeks you will be relatively safe from getting radiation sickness and can leave the shelter to resume normal life's activities. Expect casualties from those in the danger zone who did not take shelter during this two week period of time.

A fallout shelter can help protect you against harmful particles and rays

What is radioactive fallout?
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia explains fallout this way:
"Fallout is the residual radiation hazard from a nuclear explosion and is named from the fact that it "falls out" of the atmosphere into which it is spread during the explosion. It commonly refers to the radioactive dust created when a nuclear weapon explodes. This radioactive dust, consisting of hot particles, is a kind of radioactive contamination. Fallout can also refer to nuclear accidents."

Can a nuclear power plant explode like an atomic bomb?
No. Power Plant uranium is used to create heat to generate electricity from nuclear power plants. U-235, U-238 & U-239 are used in a nuclear reactor. It will not explode at all. However, like any kind of radiation, it must be kept contained lest it cause radioactive contamination. But the type of uranium and plutonium for bombs is different from that in a nuclear power plant. Bomb-grade uranium is highly-enriched uranium being 90% U-235, instead of about 3.5% uranium. Bomb-grade plutonium is fairly pure being 90% Pu-239 and is made in special reactors.

So far, a lot has been mentioned about unfriendly atoms. Now, let's mention the friendly atom. Radiation has always been present in the environment and in our bodies. That's the way God made it and it is good. Man uses radiation in the health professions to take chest x-rays and to take pictures of your teeth so not all radiation is bad. The friendly atom is also used in nuclear reactors aboard submarines to power it's engines and the friendly atom is used in nuclear power plants to produce electricity. This kind of use is the cleanest, most efficient, and cheapest way to produce electricity and it's advantages far outway it's disadvantages. In my opinion a nation who safely uses nuclear power plants will be a blessed society in many ways.

Why would terrorists want to use a dirty bomb or RDD?

Let your guard down
and
you might get swallowed up
Any terrorist wants to use terror as a weapon. People are naturally afraid of what they don't understand. Radiation sickness is not understood by most people in the world. The economic costs and social disruption of a nation, not counting the evacuation of large numbers of people and subsequent clean-up of contaminated property, would play into a terrorist's agenda. There are public fears of all things nuclear and radioactive. Fear, panic and chaos are a terrorist's primary objective.

However, the terrorists have another goal in mind, as well. During America's cold war with the former Soviet Union, the U.S.S.R. held to this theory: "We will force the United States to spend itself into destruction." Global terrorists have the same goal in mind today.

What is the killing distance of radiation?
This answer depends on the amount of radiation given off by the explosion. Some bombs are weaker than others, some only partially explode, and some are duds that don't explode at all.

A general rule of thumb is that any nuclear bomb radiation can be terminal for many people if they are within the 30 mile blast area from the detonation site of the bomb and not in a fallout shelter. Neutrons and gamma rays are the dangerous particles of energy in this wave.

A lethal dose of radiation from the immediate blast will have these effects- varying degrees of shock, possibly within a few hours; nausea, vomiting and diarrhea in the following day or two; then fever. Often there will be no pain in the first few days, but merely discomfort, depression and fatigue.

The early stages of radiation sickness may be followed by two or three days when the patient is free from all symptoms, although profound changes are taking place meanwhile in his body. Then the earlier symptoms reappear. Active illness is soon followed by delirium, coma and finally death, which comes within two to three weeks. Infection, internal bleeding, swelling of the throat glands, loss of hair and degeneration of the sex organs are all apt to occur.

As mentioned above, dangerous fallout can occur down wind as far as 320 miles or so.

How much dirt should be over my shelter to protect me from fallout radiation?
A 3 foot thickness of earth (1 meter or one yard) or a 2 foot thickness of concrete must be the roof of your shelter to protect you from the fallout radiation. The building of underground houses is not presently popular but this will change after a few nuclear bombs are exchanged in the next few nuclear wars on planet earth.

We don't have a basement or fallout shelter at our house. Where can we take cover if we are in the fallout area for two weeks?
A railroad tunnel is a good location that goes into a large hill or mountain. This will give you pretty good protection for two weeks. An underground mine is good if it is safe. A large cement, multi-tiered, car parking building is good as long as you are not on the very top of it. Many cities have subways, fallout shelters, or mass transit tubes that could be used. And there are many other places to take shelter that are not listed here. I suggest that you contact your nearest government Civil Defense Agency for helpful info in your area.

What kind of food do we need in such an emergency?
Soup and sandwiches are the easiest to prepare. There won't be any electricity so you won't have any refrigeration so you can make your sandwiches out of peanut butter, jelly, canned corn beef, canned tuna, etc. Make sure that you take plenty of bread and crackers to your shelter with you as well as your canned goods. Two weeks may seem like an eternity to some folks in a situation like this. Take along plenty of extra for those folks who will join you who don't have any. Use common sense and wisdom in all you do. Show love and kindness to others.

What kind of outside water can we drink in such an emergency?
Radioactive particles will sink to the bottom of an outside water source. If there is a lake, a pond, a river, a swimming pool, or a cistern near your shelter then drink the surface water from it. Don't drink the water from the bottom that contains the radioactive particles.

Jesus weeps over man's inhumanity to man. Nuclear war is not His will.

Here is an article I found that discusses tough days ahead. You may or may not agree with this author's time-line but, otherwise, he does make some good points of logic from the scriptures.

An article on
Did Jesus Predict the Atomic Bomb?
by McKinley Ash (1975)

"(THE TWENTY-FIRST CHAPTER OF LUKE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF ITS MESSAGE TO THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY OF OUR GENERATION)

Luke has given us a very orderly account of Jesus' answers to the questions of His disciples. This prophetic discourse of our Lord
(Luke 21:5-36) should be read and understood by Christians of the time we live in, lest we receive the same reproof as did the disciples on the road to Emmaus:
"0 fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken." We should read and believe what our Lord Himself has spoken about the sequence that leads right up to His appearing in "power and great glory."

"And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had"
(Luke 21:1-4).

This is an example of total commitment. When we truly commit ourselves to following the Lord, we must follow the leading of His Holy Spirit. In
Luke 6:38 our Lord says,
"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over."

And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, "As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down"
(Luke 21:5-6).

Our Lord was confirming the prophecy of
Daniel 9:26, written in 538 B.C.:
"And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary."

History reveals that Titus, the prince, was commanding the Roman army in the place of his father, Vespasian, who had been called to the throne. After a long and cruel siege, Jerusalem was taken by Titus on September 8, 70 A.D. Titus returned to Rome in 71 A.D. and succeeded Vespasian as emperor in 79 A.D.

"And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass"
(Luke 21:7).

This was a very natural question to ask. The Lord did not answer them directly, however. "He said. Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them"
(verse 8).

This He said, knowing that many of His disciples assumed He would be gone but for a short period
(see 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3) and that during the Jewish wars that extended to 135 A.D. many in the stress and confusion would declare themselves to be the Christ.

"But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by {"But the end shall not be at once" (RSV); "the end is not at once" (Moffat)}. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven"
(Luke 21:9-11).

In these verses our Lord gave His disciples a brief glimpse of the future. All the wars of history, right on down to the two world wars of the modern era, fulfill His prophecy. There have been more severe earthquakes within the past ten years than had been recorded in the previous one thousand years.

The worst pestilence was the Black Plague of the fourteenth century, a plague of Oriental origin that devastated Asia, Africa, and Europe. It is estimated that the "black death" caused the death of twenty-five million people in Europe. The flu epidemic of the war years of 1917 and 1918 took the lives of many in uniform and thousands more in the large cities of this country.

"But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist"
(Luke 21:12-15).

Jesus warned His disciples to be spiritually prepared for the trials and persecutions that awaited them at the hands of the religious and secular authorities. It was to be their opportunity to be faithful in witnessing, and He promised to be with them, giving them the wisdom for an effective witness.

"And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls. And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh"
(Luke 21:16-20).

Here Jesus begins to give His disciples direction for survival in the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman army. "Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto." [Very specific directions indeed, and, according to the Jewish historian Josephus, author of The Jewish Wars, heeding the warning given to Christ's disciples forty years before, the believers succeeded in escaping from the doomed city of Jerusalem.] For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. [Once again the Lord confirms the prophecies written 538 years before by
Daniel (chapter 9).]
"But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land. and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled"
(Luke 21:21-24).

In this statement our Lord reveals that the punishment of Judah would be concurrent with the domination of the Gentile powers of Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome. Jerusalem was under Roman rule when our Lord was there, had been under Gentile rule since 604 B.C., and would remain under Gentile rule for over nineteen hundred more years.

The Israelites, in Leviticus 26:18, 24, and 28, were warned of a "seven times" punishment if they became worshippers of the strange gods of their neighbors. "I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste."

It is well established that the ancient year of 360 days was known as a "time." "Seven times" would be only seven years or 2520 days. We know that Judah, in 607 B.C., became tributary to Pharaoh Nechoh of Egypt
(2 Kings 23:29-33). 2520 years later (in 1914 A.D.) World War I began.

So now we discover an important truth: the days measuring a prophecy are fulfilled in history in years. Examples of this are found in the Bible in
Numbers 14:34, Ezekiel 4:4-6, and Luke 13:31-33.

Judah became tributary to the king of Babylon
(2 Kings 24:1-9) in December 604 B.C..
2520 years later, in December 1917 A.D., the Allied armies of the first World War under General Allenby captured Jerusalem from the Turks, resulting in the Lord Balfour Mandate passed in Parliament declaring Palestine to be a home for Jewish refugees.

From 598 B.C., when all Jerusalem was carried away into Babylon, including Daniel and his companions
(2 Kings 24:10-20), unto the confirming of the Balfour Mandate by the League of Nations in 1923 was 2520 years (seven times).

From 587 B.C., when the armies of Nebuchadnezzar broke down the walls of Jerusalem, burned the temple and carried away the appurtenances of the sacrificial rites
(2 Kings 25:8-21), 2520 years brings us to 1934 A.D. and the rise to power of Hitler, which brought on World War II and the holocaust of millions of Jews in the gas chambers and which hastened the post-war rise in 1948 of the first free Jewish state of Israel after 2520 years of subjection.

"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring"
(Luke 21:25).

These heavenly signs have been seen but not always understood. We surely have distress of nations. Man, in rebellion against God, has miserably failed. The raging mobs of revolutionaries destroy the peace of the nations. The world economy is near collapse. Lot had a score or more sodomites trying to knock down his door, but now in our country we have an estimated million and a half sodomites determined to break down all the doors of decency. The nations are in a state of chaos that will worsen until the Lord comes.

"Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken"
(verse 26).

Is there anything that exists in the world or ever has existed that casts as much fear into the hearts of men as does the terrible array of nuclear war-headed intercontinental missiles that could destroy this earth and all life upon it? Our Lord has said, "Except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved"
(Matthew 24:22).

Jesus says that the reason for man's great fear is that "the powers of the heavens shall be shaken." Is God's heaven (the third heaven) shaken? Impossible! Has the second heaven outer space, where astronauts travel been shaken? No! Our own earthly heaven? Yes! The splitting of the atom and the proliferation of intercontinental missiles have put fear into the hearts of all men. Surely our earthly heaven has been shaken.

"And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory"
(verse 27).

We are now in the end time. Daniel was told that in the "time of the end" "many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased"
(Daniel 12:4).

Until Fulton invented the steam engine, the only means of travel was by paddle or sail, horse or donkey. The steamboat and the steam engine railroads were only the slow beginning of the "running to and fro," however. It took the invention of the internal combustion engine to bring about the change to rapid transportation. I was a small boy of four in 1900 when my dad and R.E. Olds fastened a four-cycle, one-cylinder gasoline engine to the side of a buggy, with a belt or chain to the back axle. I can well remember the thrill of chug-chugging down the main avenue of Lansing, Michigan, in one of the world's first automobiles. Now we go along the broad highways bumper to bumper in flaming chariots, jostling one another, just as Nahum the prophet said we would
(Nahum 2:3-4).

About the same time the first automobiles were invented, the Wright brothers were intent on proving that man could fly. They did prove it, and in 1978- 160,000,000 passengers flew on commercial airlines. Seventy-five years after I rode in one of the world's first automobiles, I sat in my home and saw men walking on the moon. We are in the "time of the end." It is time to be watching and waiting. There is no time left for double-minded fooling around with the world, the flesh, and the devil. Remember Lot's wife.

"And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth"
(Luke 21:34 and 35).

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him"
(Revelation 1:7).

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man"
(Luke 21:36).

Let's Take A Brief Look At The Results of Atomic Warfare During World War Two

Here is an article titled "Remembering the Nuclear Holocaust" by Animesh Roul
(source: Article No: 47, August 06, 2005)

"The nuclear bombings in two Japanese cities on August 6 and 9, 1945, during the Second World War-

The bomb which destroyed Hiroshima was dropped at 8.15 a.m. and exploded 510 meters above the centre of the city. It released an energy equivalent of about 12.5 kilotons of TNT. The atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki just three days later, exploded 500 meters above the city at 11.02 a.m., thought to have had a yield of some 22 kilotons of TNT.

The immediate effects varied considerably in the two cities because of the geographical situation. Hiroshima is built on a plateau and the city was damaged symmetrically in all directions. But Nagasaki is built on mountainous ground and the damage varied according to the direction. But the number of people killed at a given distance from the epicentre was roughly the same in both cities. Though the exact number of people killed is not known, almost all within 500 meters of the epicentres were dead by the end of 1945. About 60 percent of those within 2 kms died. The difficulty in estimating the exact number of people killed is related to the lack of figures for the population of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the time. When the explosions occurred, thousands of Koreans and forced labourers were there. According to the best estimates, the total number of people killed by the two bombings exceeds 260,000.

The intensity of the heat generated by the nuclear explosions, estimated to have been 30000-40000C at ground level near the epicentres, lasted for one second. At a distance of 500 meters from the epicentres in Hiroshima, nearly 60 calories per sq.cm. of the thermal radiation were emitted in the first three seconds. At a distance of 3 kilometres from the epicentre, the heat in the first three seconds was about 40 times greater than that from the sun. The heat at Nagasaki was even more intense. It was sufficient to burn exposed skin at distances as great as 4 kilometres. From the epicentres, within 20 to 30 minutes after the explosion, a massive fire began. This violent firestorm lasted for a half day in Hiroshima. The fire was accompanied by black rain containing radioactivity from the explosion, fell on Hiroshima for 7 to 8 hours.

Nevertheless, these bombings afforded the first opportunity to observe the effects of massive ionising radiation exposure in humans. But little is known abut the effects of initial radiation. Nearly all who died within three weeks had signs of radiation injuries. The prodormal radiation, the early manifestations of an illness, was marked in the very severely exposed people. Most of them died within two weeks, with blood cell abnormalities. Others died 30 days after the bomb explosion who had milder prodormal syndromes.

After the bombing, the blood cells of survivors were extensively investigated, and these investigations have continued for years. The most significant radiation effect has been the induction of malignant tumours in exposed survivors. The earliest evidence of radiation-induced malignant change was the occurrence of increased leukaemia in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The mortality rate for leukaemia reached a level of 30 times higher than that of the non-exposed Japanese. Clinical studies in both the cities in the late 1950s and early 1960s showed that the frequency of thyroid cancer was higher among survivors, especially women who were exposed to high radiation doses.

Most of the survivors alive at the end of 1945 suffered the late effects of nuclear explosion. This delayed effect comprised a variety of illnesses like eye diseases, blood disorders, psycho-neurological disturbances, and disturbances of reproductive function."

Nagasaki was a city reduced to a charred atomic desert

also Hiroshima

By the end of 1945, the death toll from the bombings stood at nearly 250,000. The victims were either killed instantly...or died soon thereafter from radiation sickness.

However, there were more than 250,000 living survivors of the Hiroshima atomic bomb blast...

Some chronic health ailments attributed to radiation exposure were intense heat rashes, cancer, kidney failure, and long-term fatigue.

A Few Testimonies of Christian Survivors

Does God have the power to protect any of His children in an atomic bomb blast? Read the testimonies for yourself. Not all of the Japanese survivors who lived through the atomic bombings were non-Christians. Many survivors were Christians. Listed below are just a few of the testimonies of God's protecting hand on His sheep who were in harm's way. He loves His sheep. Are you one of His sheep? If you are not, please click on the appropriate link at the bottom of this page to learn how to become one.

The Lord Protected 8 Roman Catholic Priests at Hiroshima:

"At 2:45 a.m. on August 6, 1945, a B-29 bomber took off from the island of Tinian to drop the first atomic bomb on Japan. At 8:15 a.m. the bomb exploded eight city blocks from the Jesuit Church of Our Lady's Assumption in Hiroshima.

There was a home eight blocks (about 1 kilometer or one half mile) from where the A-Bomb went off in Hiroshima Japan. This home had a church attached to it which was completely destroyed, but the home survived, and so did the eight German Jesuit missionaries who prayed the rosary in that house faithfully every day. These men were missionaries to the Japanese people, they were non-military, but because Germany and Japan were allies during World War 2 they were permitted to live and minister within Japan during the war. Not only did they all survive with (at most) relatively minor injuries, but they all lived well past that awful day with no radiation sickness, no loss of hearing, or any other visible long term defects or maladies. Naturally, they were interviewed numerous times (Fr. Schiffer, a survivor, said over 200 times) by scientists and health care people about their remarkable experience and they say "we believe that we survived because we were living the message of Fatima. We lived and prayed the rosary daily in that home." Of course the secular scientists are speechless and incredulous at this explanation- and they are sure there is some "real" explanation- but at the same time over 55 years later the scientists are still absolutely bamboozled when it comes to finding a plausible scenario to explain the missionary's unique escape from the hellish power of that bomb.

The names of 5 of the 8 priests are Fathers Hugo Lassalle, Kleinsorge, Cieslik, Fr. Arrupe, and Hubert Schiffer. According to the experts they "ought to be dead," being within a one-mile radius of the explosion. There are no physical laws to explain why the Jesuits were untouched in the Hiroshima airblast. There is no other actual or test data where a structure such as this was not totally destroyed at this standoff distance by an atomic weapon. All who were at this range from the epicenter should have received enough radiation to be dead within at most a matter of minutes if nothing else happened to them. There is no known way to design a uranium-235 atomic bomb, which could leave such a large discrete area intact while destroying everything around it immediately outside the fireball (by shaping the plasma).

All- except the Jesuits- died within fifteen years of some form of cancer.

This is the incredible story of the late Fr. Hubert Schiffer, as retold by Fr. Paul Ruge. I met Fr. Schiffer in the late 70s at the Tri-City Airport in Saginaw, Michigan, as he was going to give a talk for the Blue Army Novena/Triduum. As I chauffeured him around he told me stories of his life, especially of the atomic explosion at Hiroshima. On the morning of August 6, 1945, he had just finished Mass, went into the rectory and sat down at the breakfast table, and had just sliced a grapefruit, and had just put his spoon into the grapefruit when there was a bright flash of light. His first thought was that it was an explosion in the harbor (this was a major port where the Japanese refueled their submarines.)

Then, in the words of Fr. Schiffer: "Suddenly, a terrific explosion filled the air with one bursting thunderstroke. An invisible force lifted me from the chair, hurled me through the air, shook me, battered me, whirled me 'round and 'round like a leaf in a gust of autumn wind." The next thing he remembered, he opened his eyes and he was laying on the ground. He looked around and there was NOTHING in any direction: the railroad station and buildings in all directions were leveled to the ground. The only physical harm to himself was that he could feel a few pieces of glass in the back of his neck. As far as he could tell, there was nothing else physically wrong with himself. Many thousands were killed or maimed by the explosion. After the conquest of the Americans, their army doctors and scientists explained to him that his body would begin to deteriorate because of the radiation. Many of the Japanese people had blisters and sores from the radiation. To the doctors amazement, Fr. Schiffer's body contained no radiation or ill-effects from the bomb. Fr. Schiffer attributes this to devotion to the Blessed Mother, and his daily Fatima Rosary. He feels that he received a protective shield from the Blessed Mother which protected him from all radiation and ill-effects. (This coincides with the bombing of Nagasaki where St. Maximilian Kolbe had established a Franciscan Friary which was also unharmed because of special protection from the Blessed Mother, as the Brothers too prayed the daily Rosary and also had no effects from the bomb.)"

A Japanese Minister's Wife and Baby Saved by God at Hiroshima

"The atomic bomb hit. They lived about one mile from ground zero. They were in their house when their house collapsed on top of them. The minister's wife and daughter, Tanimoto-Kondo, got out ok. It was a miracle from God that they were not killed and it was another miracle from God that their combustible house did not catch fire with them in it but it did not catch fire at all.

While trapped in the wreckage of their house: "At first she (my mother) thought, 'Ah, a baby is crying somewhere.' And then suddenly the crying cut off completely and then [with] her mother's instinct she realized that it was her baby, that's me, [and that I] could not cry any more because I could not breathe any more," Tanimoto-Kondo recalls. "So my mother realized and at first she asked for help but no one came. She moved little by little and finally she was able to make a little hole [above] her head and she took me out of the house. When she was out she saw fires all over the place."

Tanimoto-Kondo, the baby in this story, was one of the most prominent of the Hiroshima survivors and frequently traveled abroad to talk about her experiences and the need for reconciliation."

Mrs. Sako

Out of the Ashes (July 27, 2005, Hiroshima, Japan)

"A bright flash of light exploded on the horizon, and a powerful wind threw the girl over a high wall.

Silent Explosion

The bright August sun beat down as 17-year-old Hisako [hee-SAH-ko] hurried toward the government building in Hiroshima, Japan, where she was assigned to work. She tilted her umbrella to shield her eyes from the sun.

Everyone, even children, were assigned to help tear down buildings and create fire lanes to protect the city from destruction should it be attacked again. As Hisako turned a corner, air-raid sirens began to scream. The sirens sounded nearly every day over Hiroshima, but above the shrill whine Hisako could hear the drone of airplane engines. She looked up. Suddenly a bright light exploded in the sky over the city. Hisako heard no sound, just the silent explosion of light.

Suddenly Hisako felt a rush of hot wind. The force threw her over a six-foot high [two- meter high] high wall. Stunned, she tried to see what had happened, where she was. But as she opened her eyes, she could not see. The light has blinded me! she thought. She sunk back to the ground.

Hisako had no idea how long she lay there before she could make out a little light. She crawled toward that light, under the wooden wall over which she had been thrown, and into the street. As her eyes adjusted, she could not believe the devastation that she saw. Where minutes before tall buildings had crowded to the streets, now there was nothing but rubble.

In the distance she heard someone shout, a baby cry, and a child scream, "Mommy, help me!"

Hisako stumbled toward home. How will I find home in this rubble? she wondered. She managed to make it to her neighborhood, then down her street, and finally she stood in front of the remains of her familys home. She found her mother, wounded, standing numbly in front of the house. Her father was trying to rescue a neighbor from the rubble.

Fire broke out in the few buildings still standing. Fires burned in the rubble. The entire city was a smoldering pile of rubble.

Behind her parents home stood a park filled with Japanese cherry trees. In the spring they blossomed like pink clouds. Hisako and her parents ran to the shelter of the trees to escape the fires and the heat. People were pouring out of burning buildings, even the hospital, to escape the heat and flames. Many people were seriously burned. Their skin was blistered and peeling.

Exhausted, Hisako and her parents collapsed under a cherry tree, unable to go any farther. Hisako may have dozed off, for she was suddenly awakened by moisture on her skin. She opened her eyes and saw rain falling, black, oily rain mixed with ashes. She could barely breathe.Am I going to die after all? she wondered.

Hisakos family was not Christian, and she had no spiritual strength to hold on to. With nowhere to turn, and no hope in her god, she lay down, preparing to die.

A voice awoke her. Doctors were working their way through the crowd, caring for the injured. Maybe I will survive after all, she dared to hope. Though her eyes were almost swollen shut and she could barely see, she took stock of her wounds. Her hands, arms, and face were badly burned. But where her clothes protected her skin, her burns were not as serious.

When a doctor examined Hisako, he offered no treatment, but simply noted her condition and went on. Even in her numbed state, Hisako knew they thought she would die, and they had to save their meager supplies for those who had a chance of survival.

But Hisakos father was not ready to give up. He begged someone to help his daughter, and at last he was told to take her to the government hospital. The doctors there had no medicine, but they washed her wounds and applied a simple antiseptic. Back home her father applied a homemade herbal medicine to her worst burns. The medicine seemed to work, but he did not have enough to treat her whole body.

A few days later additional medical stations opened. Doctors treated her burns by removing a thin layer of skin from the burned areas. It was incredibly painful, but the treatment would save her life. Hisako pulled on her braids to help her endure the pain. A few days later when she pulled on her hair during a treatment, her hair fell out.

Every day Hisako saw more bodies dumped onto a pile for burial or burning. People are dying everywhere, she thought. Why am I still alive?

Some 250,000 people died as a result of the bomb that struck Hiroshima on August 7, 1945. Hisako could not talk about what she had experienced that day and the weeks that followed. She could not bear to attend the ceremonies held in honor of the dead, to see the candles set afloat on the rivers that run through the city. She could not escape the gnawing questions, Why did they die and I survive the hell we all experienced?

Hisakos family moved to the countryside. Hisako loved the peace and beauty of the country, and there she eventually recovered her health. She met a young man, and they were married. Joy filled her heart when she gave birth to a healthy baby.

Life-changing Invitation

One day a former schoolmate came to visit. Hisako had not seen the girl since the bombing, and she hardly recognized her former classmate. "What has happened to you?" Hisako asked. "You are so different!"

"I have become a Christian," her friend said. "Jesus has changed my life." Her friend invited Hisako to attend some religious meetings with her, and Hisako agreed.

Missionaries had returned to Japan following the war, and churches were reopening. The pastor invited the visitors to attend worship services on Sabbath morning, and Hisako went. There she met warm, caring Christians who loved her into the church. Before long Hisako decided to become a Christian.

Respect for her parents compelled her to ask their permission to become a Christian. Her family, while not deeply religious, considered themselves Buddhists. But her father did not object to her decision. "Buddhism speaks of mercy," he said. "But Christians show love."

Hisakos husband did not like the idea of her becoming a Christian, but in time he softened, and even allowed her to take their children to church with her. "I am still praying that my husband will give his life to Christ," Hisako said gently.

Hisako shared her faith with her parents, but they resisted her efforts to convert them. Then her mother became ill. Hisako ministered to her and encouraged her to trust in God. Ten years later her mother confessed her faith in the Lord Jesus. She was too weak to be baptized, but her faith grew stronger as her body grew weaker.

Hisako enjoys inviting friends to her home for Bible studies, and there she shares her faith. "Out of the ashes of a city and thousands of destroyed lives, God saved me," she said. "Then He called me to follow Him and has used me to lead others to Christ. He has preserved me all these years. How can I praise Him enough for His wonderful love?"

Hisako Sakomoto is active in her church in Hiroshima, Japan."

Mrs. Kino

Japan: Hiroshima Remembered (July 27, 2005, Hiroshima, Japan)

"Mrs. Kino lived about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the epicenter of the blast and missed the main effects of the detonation. Trained in first aid, she spent her time helping those whose bodies were scorched by the heat of the blast.

"I knew God's promise in the Bible that 'although many fall, I will save'"
(Psalm 91).

Mrs. Kino says. "Indeed, I think, I can feel the promise of that fulfilled for myself. I think many things happen in the world, but I think the most important thing is, just forget about fighting. If we become close to each other, hand-in-hand and believe in peace, I think that will bring a bright future."

Mrs. Sako

"Mrs. Sako was 17 years old at the time. She was only 1.5 kilometers (0.9 mile) from the epicenter. She says it was a miracle she survived. The military first aid posts refused to treat her, telling her father that they had to help those who had some chance of living. She suffered for weeks with breathing difficulties, severe burns on the exposed parts of her body, maggot-infested wounds, and radiation sickness.

"Since then," she says, "I really dislike war. I hate war. I really don't want my children to experience what I experienced. I really try to do my best to prevent the thing that happened."

With what Mrs. Kino and Mrs. Sako have been through, it would be understandable if they held hurt and bitterness in their hearts. Instead, they hold forgiveness.

Mrs. Sako explains that in her faith she "found the thing that did not change. Everything around me may change, but I believe in a God who does not change."

Despite a horrific past, Mrs. Sako has found a hope for the future. She says she has been made whole by her faith in a creator God.

"The first time I went to church ... the subject was Genesis. I fell in love with the story of Genesis, of creation, and especially the idea that we are special; that we are in God's image. That makes all people special to me," she says. "That encourages me. I really treasure that God is my friend and the church is a support."

Mrs. Kino and Mrs. Sako are just two of many Japanese who have carried the memory of an indelible tragedy for 60 years, but they look forward to a bright future with hope and forgiveness."

Nagasaki: A Peace Church Rises From the Nuclear Ashes

"Because thousands of Catholics were among the 70,000 destroyed in the A-bomb blast at Nagasaki, that city has been called "the place where Christianity first faced the bomb." Thanks to Pope John Paul II's visit to Japan, Nagasaki Catholics are now moving from a passive, martyrlike attitude toward the bomb to more active involvement in the struggle for peace.

Tsuyo Kataoka, a devout Catholic from Nagasaki, met Pope John Paul II in Rome last summer and received a blessed rosary from him. It was the first time since 1945 that the tragedy-stalked woman was happy to be alive. She had been severely burned by the atomic bomb which fell on Nagasaki August 9, 1945, killing 70,000, and has carried its scars ever since.

"At the time of the bombing and for a long time afterwards, I wanted to die," confessed the 61-year-old survivor as she told her personal story to the tiny group of journalists packed into her small Nagasaki house and sitting on straw mats.

"I was working at the Mitsubishi ship factory a little less than a mile from the hypocenter when the bomb exploded. My face was whipped by the heat blast. When I came to, there were few people around. A woman crushed under the debris was crying for help, but I couldn't help her; I had to leave and work my way out of the factory rubble. Outside I saw people with bloody faces and corpses near the river. I could smell the burns on my own body and in places my skin was sticking to the remains of my burnt clothing. My neighborhood was a sea of flames. Parents were screaming for their children."

When Ms. Kataoka reached her house, she found it completely destroyed, but fortunately her mother had been pulled out safely. For three days and nights they had to live outside without shelter. On the fourth day after the bombing, she was placed on a door used as a stretcher, and carried up the hill to the grounds of the bomb-wrecked Urakami Hospital (part of a Franciscan theology school at the time and now called Saint Francis Hospital). Hundreds of wounded had been brought there and were groaning in agony. For weeks Ms. Kataoka suffered temporary blindness and lay near death on a straw mat on the concrete floor. She was unable to walk for three months. "When I was finally able to take a few steps, I went to the corner of the hospital grounds and looked down over the bombed city. When I saw the destroyed cathedral, I wept and wept."

For the past 37 years since the bombing, Ms. Kataokas life has generally been filled with misery and poverty. She was 24 years old when the tragedy struck. Her face, as well as her arms and legs, was badly scarred by burns, clouding prospects of marriage. She suffered a broken eardrum from the blast and was left hard of hearing. Her life has been plagued by health problems and consequent unemployment much of the time. Like many hibakusha (those injured by the atomic bomb) who suffered burns and radioactivity, keloids (thick fibrous lumps) formed on the scar tissue around her mouth and had to be removed by surgical operations.

It was not until she visited the Pope last summer that she felt any advantage to having survived the atomic bombing. Tears of joy streamed down her face as she told how overwhelmed she was at meeting Pope John Paul II and how for the first time her pain-ridden life seemed to have a meaning. As she spoke there was hardly a dry eye among the journalists and interpreters who listened to her tale.

Surrounding Ms. Kataoka in her small living room were signs of her fervent Catholicity: traditional statues and pictures of Christ, Mary, the Sacred Heart, the Last Supper, as well as at least three photos and a cloth banner of the Pope.

Her admiration for the Pope, however, goes deeper than her joyful audience with him in Rome. Like many of her fellow Catholics, she was profoundly affected by his visit to Hiroshima and Nagasaki in February 1981. In fact, he brought about a revolution in her thinking that is symbolic of the change in viewpoint experienced by the whole Catholic community in Nagasaki and Japan as a whole."

The Peace Memorial Park or Peace Park

There is a public park in Hiroshima known as the Peace Park. The "atomic bomb dome" was one of the few buildings to remain standing after the atomic blast in Hiroshima. It is now part of the peace park.

A Message To Terrorists

Who said it was ok for you to murder people? It certainly wasn't God because He says in His Ten Commandments "You shall not murder." There are a lot of voices in the world today. You have been listening to some other voice rather than the voice of God. You have been listening to Satan's voice. He specializes in deceiving people and he comes to you as a religious voice. That's because Satan is religious. He wants to be worshipped as God. He wants you to worship him. He wants you to be deceived. He wants you to murder people for him. Have you ever thought that you have been deceived? If your religion teaches you to murder, have you ever thought that you are in a false religion- a religion started by Satan and run by Satanists? Do you think that God is going to reward you for obeying Satan's will? No, God is going to judge and condemn you, instead.

Why do you follow an agenda of hatred rather than love? Why do you follow an agenda of death rather than life? Why do you follow an agenda of war rather than peace? Why do you follow an agenda to destroy rather than to create? Why do you follow a negative agenda rather than a positive one? Satan is on the negative side. If you are on the negative side then you are on Satan's side. You are a villain rather than a hero. You are a murderer, a criminal in your heart, if you believe in the mass murder of civilians.

Let's take a look at what you believe: you believe it is ok to murder. You believe it is ok to stay in a false religion that promotes a doctrine of hate and killing. You believe in hatred rather than love. You believe in death over life. You follow war rather than peace. You would rather destroy than create. You wallow in the negative side.

Do you really think that all of these negatives is what God wants you to follow? You are following Satan rather than God. Satan has you deceived. You are doing Satan's will instead of God's will. Think of doing jihad? Want to be a suicide bomber? I have news for you- you are NOT going to get 70 virgins in the next life. Instead, you are going to get thrown into a lake of fire where you will be in torment forever and forever. Why? Because you have NOT believed in the right God, you have NOT accepted Jesus Christ as your savior, your sins have NOT been forgiven by God, and because you have violated the ten commandments of God (especially, you shall not murder). Is that plain enough for you?

In the Bible, Adam had a son named Cain. He also had another son named Abel. (Genesis chapter 4). Cain was deceived by Satan. Cain thought he was doing God's will by offering to God the fruit of a cursed earth. He was wrong. He was not doing God's will. He was deceived. God did not receive His offering. You may think you are doing service to Allah or someone else but God will not receive any of it. Cain followed the negative path way of Satan's will. You may be following the same wrong path way. Cain murdered Abel. You may murder people also. God judged Cain for it. And God will judge you also if you murder people. If you do- you are nothing but a terrorist-criminal.

God forbid King David from building His temple in Jerusalem. Why? Because he had spilled the blood of others. He was a man of violence. Killing others and violence are not God's perfect will unless He orders it. God judged King David in that respect. King David's son, Solomon, built the temple, instead.
(2 Chronicles 6:8).

OK. You don't have to stay this way. You don't have to stay a terrorist-criminal. There is hope for you. I want you to invite Jesus Christ to come into your heart and to possess you. I want you to start daily, studying God's Word, the Bible, and get your thinking straightened out. I want you to get out of your false religion and burn their books. I want you to start going to church and seeking out fellowship from true Christian believers in your area. I want you to start praying and evangelizing others for Christ. I want you to start acting like Jesus Christ and then follow Him.

Whether you are a foreign terrorist or one of the "home grown" variety you are lost and need Jesus to come into your heart and life. Read how to do this. Here are some gospel tract booklets that you should read, study, and believe. At the end of each booklet is the sinner's prayer I challenge you to say it to God and mean it with all of your heart.

There is a good article titled "Terrorism and the Last Days" from the Pentecostal Evangel Magazine at the bottom of this web page...

    A Sermonette On Confronting Fear

Do you have fear in your life? Maybe it is not only the fear of a nuclear explosion but some other fear in your life. Fear is one of Satan's greatest tools.

Why is fear so bad? Fear can paralyze a person or a nation. Fear discourages people. Fear disrupts God's plan. Fear disolves God's promise. Fear distorts God's principles. You might have fear of the unknown. You might be fearful about your future. You might be fearful of the future of the human race. You might be fearful about an adverse medical condition in your life. You might be fearful of how you are going to eat since you lost your job, or you might be fearful of losing a loved one in death, in a failed relationship, or in a break-up. Or, you might have fear or something else.

Maybe fear is a giant to you. Have you ever faced a giant in your life? Did anyone in the Bible ever face such an enemy and overcome it? Well, let's take a look at the Bible and see what God's Word has to reveal to us.

When King David was a teen-ager he faced a giant in battle. The true story is recorded in the Bible in
1 Samuel 17:38-39. The Israelite army was shaking in fear. There is that word fear again. The army had fear. The army was paralyzed into inaction. Those brave soldiers had to listen to that big pagan, Goliath, ridicule them and their God daily. Then David came along. He had enough confidence to overcome his fear. He was bold. He stepped out in faith to confront the giant. He acted in the power of God. He picked up 5 stones or rocks. Goliath was killed with one.

So, what does this story tell you and me? Well, let's study it. God is on your side. God's power is available to you. God is the miracle maker. You must trust God. God will give you the victory.

There are 5 steps (for the 5 rocks) to take in this regard:

    1. Confront your fear honestly. Do something about it. Don't let fear paralyze you.
    2. Confess your fear as sin and unbelief in God. Don't doubt God. He loves you and waits for you to reach out to Him for help.
    3. Claim God's promise of protection.
    4. Cultivate a closer relationship with God.
    5. Commit your life to Jesus Christ

What giant is holding you back?

We all face a giant in our lives that will either destroy us or help us see God's power. Here are some tips to follow:

    1. I am fighting a battle (1 Samuel 17:1-3).

    a. It is a battle being fought by many.
    b. It is a battle between good and evil.
    c. It is a battle where the enemy plans to destroy you.
    2. We all have a giant in our lives (1 Samuel 17:4-7).
    a. You and I will have to fight against this giant.
    b. What "giant" is holding you back?
    3. Don't allow fear to be your giant (1 Samuel 17:38-39).
    a. All you need is God on your side.
    b. Trust in God. He will give you the victory.
Why did David gather 5 stones instead of 1? According to
    2 Samuel 15:22 Goliath had 4 brothers.

Who killed Goliath? If David had killed him with his rock then Goliath would have fallen backwards. God fought against Goliath and killed him. This is seen as Goliath fell forward rather than backwards. Let God join your fight against your fear and your battles. He is that BIG, and powerful, and loves you very much. You are special to Him. He will see you through and give you the victory.

    CONCLUSION

I believe that God wants His children to know how to survive a nuclear war. It is not His will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Have you thought about turning your life over to Him? If you are willing to repent of your sins and invite Him to come into your heart, He will do that if you are sincere. Once He comes to live in your heart He will give you a new nature. And He will give you incredible peace that is hard to describe. Yes, He will give you power as well but expect you to use it through love and kindness. Please read my testimony to see what happened to me and how I received joy and peace when Christ came to live in my heart. Please make that decision today- it's a decision you will never regret. Please click on the link below in order to know how to have a relationship with Him.

Atomic weapons will be used in warfare. Atomic weapons will be used as a means of destroying multitudes of people. All of this has been foretold in God's Holy Word. Should we be alarmed? Sure, but, be prepared for survival as well. Yes, the blast is to be feared if you are near it, and the fallout is to be feared if you are near that. Otherwise, fear is what is to be feared the most. The explosion of an atomic weapon is not understood by the majority of folks on this planet nor is radiation sickness.

Many governments of the world should familiarize their populations by educating them extensively of all of the dangers. When I was in grade school in California in the 1950's we had Civil Defense Drills where we had to get under our school desks to protect us from flying glass and other objects from a nearby atomic bomb explosion. Maybe such teaching needs to be re-introduced for today...

Satan himself has used fear and torment as weapons for centuries. Modern terrorists like to use nuclear weapons as the ultimate form of fear. Modern terrorists, whether they use terror as a means for holy jihad or for some other reason, belong to Satan, are deceived by Satan, are doing Satan's will, and will wind up with him for eternity in a lake of fire called Hell. If I remember correctly, murder is listed as one of God's Ten Commandments that folks are not supposed to commit.

An atomic bomb explosion can be survived. To prove this I have listed the testimonies of several Christian survivors. God is still on the throne and He still has everything under control. Psalm 91 is especially good to memorize and believe when these weapons are used. So, don't live in fear. Prepare for the worst but live your life to the fullest. When such an attack happens then Christians who live in other parts of the world should go all out for evangelism purposes because we know that the good Lord is soon returning in the rapture and we want as many saved as possible as soon as possible.
